Sky Blue, Swiss Blue, and London Blue Topazes – What Are They, and Should You Be Worried?

Sky Blue, Swiss Blue, and London Blue Topazes – What Are They, and Should You Be Worried?

When it comes to blue topazes, you’ll often hear three names: Sky Blue, Swiss Blue, and London Blue. All of them have a natural origin, but their color is the result of treatment. And that’s absolutely fine. If you love these shades, they’re an excellent choice since the base is still a natural mineral.

Sky Blue is the lightest and most delicate shade, reminiscent of a clear sky on a sunny day. A very soft and elegant option.

Swiss Blue is a bright, rich blue, like alpine lakes. This is my favorite shade. It looks fresh and striking.

London Blue is a deep, dark blue that sometimes leans towards grayish-blue tones. A more serious and luxurious-looking choice.

Should you be worried about these topazes?

No. They are not synthetic or artificial stones. Natural colorless or very light topazes undergo irradiation and heating to enhance their color. This is a stable process, and the color won’t fade over time.

Why choose topaz

It is clean and transparent, almost like aquamarine, but much more affordable.

With a Mohs hardness of 8, it is quite resistant to scratches.

Unlike many gemstones, topazes have minimal inclusions, and their brilliance is stunning.

If you love these sky-like, vibrant, or deep blue shades, don’t hesitate—Sky, Swiss, and London Blue topazes are an amazing choice.
